Life on CSM Campus

Extracurriculars: Athletics, Drama, Band

Middle College students may return to their home high school to participate in approved extracurricular activities, including athletics, band, and, when selected, drama productions.

Students who participate in athletics must remain enrolled in the three required high school classes and meet all California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) eligibility requirements.

Transportation

The San Mateo Union High School District does not provide direct transportation for students to and from College of San Mateo. Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from CSM. Middle College staff may make arrangements for students to attend field trips or other excursions.

Public transportation, namely SamTrans, runs from cities within SMUHSD to CSM. SMUHSD provides free SamTrans bus passes to students on an as-needed basis. Contact the Middle College office for more information on obtaining a bus pass, or contact SamTrans directly for route and schedule information.

Guests/Visitors

Visitors and guests of students cannot be accommodated during the school day.  This is particularly true when other schools are through for a semester or out during a holiday period.  However, guests are permitted for good and sufficient reasons if the request is made in writing, at least 24 hours in advance.  The letter is then presented to either the Middle College Coordinator or the Middle College Office Assistant, Jordana, who will issue a visitor’s pass after the student visitor application is completed.
