Information for Interested Students
The 2026-27 Middle College Application Period is now closed!
All applications that were received by the February 27 deadline are being reviewed now, with notices expected to go out around Spring Recess.
If the number of applications received exceeds our capacity, Middle College may implement a weighted lottery system.
Late applications are still being accepted, but only considered on a "space available" basis after on-time applications and any lottery, with any late app decisions occurring up until the first week of school in Fall 2026.
Middle College typically offers a very limited number of spaces to rising 12th graders. Current 11th graders interested in applying for the 2026-27 school year should contact their counselor for more information.

10th Grade Students and Families:
The Middle College team encourages students interested in getting a head start on college courses and saving money on future college expenses to apply to Middle College for the 2026-27 school year. Middle College is an alternative education program in the San Mateo Union High School District (SMUHSD), in collaboration with the San Mateo Community College District, that allows students to earn college credit while meeting their high school diploma requirements.
Middle College, located on the beautiful College of San Mateo campus, offers an individualized learning community that focuses on the following values:

Student Info Sessions
All 10th grade students attended an information session on January 12 about Middle College during one of their classes.
Middle College Preview Week for Students
January 26 - 29, 2026: Come spend a few hours at CSM with current Middle College students getting to know what campus life is about.
January 22 Parent/Guardian Virtual Info Session
We offered a virtual information session for families to learn more about Middle College on Thursday, January 22, from 6 - 7 p.m. This info session was in English, with simultaneous Spanish interpretation available.
