School Counseling
Transcripts
-
SMUHSD (includes your Middle College and College grades): Unofficial transcripts can be requested directly with your MC school counselor, preferably over email. Official transcripts can be requested from the home school SDA after a student has graduated. When applying to colleges, all counselors and student data analysts will upload and send high school transcripts directly to each college via Naviance.
-
SMCCD: Unofficial and official transcripts can be requested at any time in WebSmart under 'Student Records'.
IGETC
IGETC stands for Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum. The IGETC is a tool college students use to complete their General Education requirements. The IGETC form was created for the UC and CSU systems. However, many independent, private, and out-of-state colleges and universities will also accept the IGETC. .
A grade of C or higher is required for all IGETC courses. The form can be found in our home page under Documents.
504s & IEPs
High School Accommodations
A school team will conduct a section 504 evaluation for a student who, because of a disability, may need accommodations in the general education program. The team will:
-
Be knowledgeable about the student;
-
Evaluate the nature of the student’s disability and the impact of the disability upon the student’s education;
-
Consider all available relevant information about the student drawn from a variety of sources; and
-
Develop a Section 504 Plan if the student meets the criteria and accommodations are needed.
All accommodations for 504's and IEP's will be met in Middle College classes.
College Accommodations
All accommodations at the College of San Mateo are arranged by the Disability Resource Center (DRC). Accommodations need to be set up with the DRC by the student and family separately to SMUHSD. Services must be requested every semester.

PSAT/SAT Testing & Accommodations
Testing
SAT: Students and families can find SAT opportunities via College Board. To find dates for the 2022-2023 school year, please visit this link.
PSAT: Students don't register for the PSAT through College Board. Schools and districts choose whether and when to offer it. To find out more about the PSAT at your school, contact your principal or college and career advisor.
Accommodations
If your student requires accommodations, SSD coordinators at each school site facilitate which students have accommodations, are pending, or who has been denied.

Test-Free vs Test-Optional
Test-Free: Colleges will not factor in test scores for admissions decisions, even if students submit scores.
Test-Optional: Test-optional policies can differ from one school to another. Most commonly, “test optional” means that students can choose whether or not to submit SAT, ACT, and other test scores for consideration.
Graduation Requirements
San Mateo Union High School District students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 170 credits in required courses and 40 additional credits of elective coursework, making a total of 220 credits. Each course passed earns 5 credits.
